Pregnancy Photos (as requested)

At the request of some friends and family I am finally posting some belly shots.

Though I was avid picture taker through college, I've become lazy since marriage and even lazier since pregnancy. But I really wanted at least a handful of good pregnancy pictures to look back on and scrapbook with. Luckily, one of my friends is an amazing photographer. She used to do it professionally, but now she just does it when she wants and for whom she wants. And she agreed to take some for us. She took tons of photos. It was so hard to narrow them down to my favorites.







P.S. Yes, today is my due date...and still no baby. I hope this isn't a preview of his stubbornness.

Babies and Cookies

Today someone told me that babies are like cookies...you don't want to pull them out too early because they're not quite done yet.

Little does she know that I prefer my cookies gooey.

Bloody Eye II

Some of you may remember when I got a random bloody eye. Well, not too long ago I got Bloody Eye II. This time, though, it wasn't totally random. Baxter (of course) and I were playing innocently in the living room. He got excited and accidentally punched me in the eye. It all happened so fast, so I'm not exactly sure how he did it, but what I do know is that his paw connected with my right eye and I spent the next two weeks looking like this...

Day Trip to Cannon Beach

A couple weeks ago Toren and I woke up to a beautiful Saturday morning with absolutely no plans, so we decided to take a day trip to the coast. We went to Cannon Beach. The weather was absolutely perfect, which is rare along the coast.

We spent the first part of our trip walking along the beach with Baxter. He was both fascinated and terrified by the waves. He loved walking along the sand though. At one point we let him off his leash and he just started sprinting full speed around the sand. He loved it, but it made me nervous so he spent the rest of the time on his leash.

After our beach time we went and walked around the little shops. We, of course, bought ice creams and a bag of saltwater taffy. Then Toren insisted we eat lunch at Mo's.

Oregon Baby Shower

I know this post is long overdue, but "better late than never" is my current blogging motto.

About a month and a half ago my sisters-in-law were in town and Forsberg women threw me a baby shower. All I have to say is that they went all out. The house was completely decorated and the food -- well -- just look at the picture below. They even ordered the cutest yellow duck Edible Arrangement that now serves as a coin bank on the baby's dresser.


And look at the cake! It was as delicious as it looks. The writing on the cake says "Welcome Austin." We are 99.9% sure we'll name the baby Austin. The other 0.1% just satisfies my nervousness to commit.
And here's the whole group (minus Mallory who was taking the picture). As you can see, baby Brody (Austin's cousin) and Frisbee the dog were both active participants in the party.
Thanks everyone for the fun afternoon and all the great gifts. Everything I got was something we desperately needed.

Our Mexican Siesta (Part 1)

A few months ago Toren and I realized that our lives were soon going to change forever (in a good way, of course). With this realization came a strong desire to do something crazy and spontaneous. Since I wanted to spend our adventure doing not much more than relaxing and eating and Toren was itching to go Scuba Diving, we really had only one option: vacation to Mexico!

So I spent 75% of last week lounging in a beach chair and I couldn't have been happier.

On the first day we did get a little sunburned. I blame mine on my weird pregnant skin because it was so blotchy and almost more like a heat rash. Anyway, after the first day I spent a little bit more time in the shade.

Toren went diving right off of the beach our resort was on. Here he is prepped and ready.

One afternoon we drove down to the Tulum Ruins.

The Ruins are right along the water and the view of the Caribbean was amazing.

After a couple hours of climbing and walking I was desperate to reclaim my beach chair...

We invited our good friends Jason and Kristin to come with us. It was nice to have someone for Toren to play with and someone for me to lay on the beach. But, as I'm sure you can imagine, the guys were up to their usual stunts...

50 Books in 2009

Last year I made a New Year's goal to read 50 books throughout the year. Normally I'm not one to make lofty, specific goals for myself, probably because I never quite achieve them. This time learned a couple things about myself that definitely helped:

• I need to plan ahead how to achieve my goal. This time I calculated out how many books I had to read each month to help myself stay on track. If I got behind (which did happen) I had to recalculate and get back on track. It was kind of like having mini goals to help me achieve the big goal.
• I need a way to keep myself accountable. I used my blog to list all the books I read. This helped me stay focused and see how far away from my goal I was an any time. It also made it much more exciting to see my progress.
  

And because I want to redo the sidebar on my blog, but I still want a record of the books I read, below is the list of the 50 books I read in 2009:
