Don't let this big cheeser fool you; Austin got his 2-month immunizations today. I think it was the worse 10 seconds of his life to date. But, as you can see, he didn't let it ruin his day.

Austin's Two Month Stats:
Weight: 12 lbs 2 ounces (that's 5 pounds since birth!)
Height: 23.75 inches (4 inches since birth)
Head: 15.5 inches (1.5 inches since birth)
****************
In other news, Austin will enjoy his first airplane ride tomorrow. My brother, David, is getting married in Utah and we wouldn't miss it for the world. I'm particularly excited for the trip because it's the first time Austin will meet his Grandpa (my dad), his Uncle David , and very-soon-to-be-Aunt Mandy. It's sure to be an exciting weekend. Look forward to pictures next week.

Where'd My Baby Go??
First of all, we recovered from yesterday. If you were a fly on our wall today you'd see a clean, empty kitchen sink, a beautifully made bed, a spotless living room, not one ounce of dirty laundry...and a happy, rested baby. Though, I still would advise you to avoid the bathrooms (we'll get to those some other day).
Austin is two months old today! Some days (like yesterday) it feels like we've had him FOREVER! And other days it feels like we just barely brought him home. I love this little guy, and I could never imagine life without him. I had a dream the other night that I put Austin down in his crib for the night. A couple hours later I went to check on him and in the crib, instead of my little baby, there was a huge toddler with a full head of blonde hair sound asleep! I screamed (in my dream) until I realized it was still Austin. I grabbed him and held him. Toren came running in and I started crying. And then I woke up.
I feel like Austin is growing SO fast (hence the dream). And looking at these pictures you can see that he really is! It doesn't even look like these are pictures of the same baby! I just hope that I can try to appreciate and love Austin every day (even on days like yesterday) and take a lot of pictures. Because, before I know it, I WILL have a huge toddler with a full head of blonde hair running around.
P.S. Austin's two month check up is tomorrow. Look forward to his stats.

One Big Sweaty Ball of Mess
I've decided to make better use of my blog. I know what you're thinking: "Yeah right. We've heard that before." I know you have. I know you've completely lost faith in my blogging abilities. I totally understand. If I were you I would've lost faith in me to. Nonetheless, I've been inspired by my mom and sister, both of whom are great (and creative) bloggers. Now, I'm not going to set any specific expectations for myself (i.e. certain number of blogs a month, blog every day, etc), but I've am going use my blog to highlight more than just what we've been doing in our lives. I hope to include more of my thoughts, observations, frustrations...you know...the deep stuff.
------------
And so, today begins my first deeper blog post: One Big Sweaty Ball of Mess.
If you were a fly on our bedroom wall right now here's what you'd see: a depressed puppy laying on top of an unmade bed, a pile of clean church clothes on top of a laundry basket full of dirty clothes, eight dirty burp clothes laying on the floor, four dirty glasses on a cluttered dresser, and one fussy baby who's been WIDE AWAKE (yet incredibly tired) since 3 am. It's now almost noon. That's 9 hours.
If you, as the fly, traveled throughout the rest of the house you'd see small pile of dirty dishes on the counter (to be fair to myself, the kitchen doesn't actually look too bad), three loads of clean laundry on the couch, several dirty dishes on the end table, and several pairs of shoes, two pillows, and one very large blanket strewn on the living room floor.
And you, as the fly, would just know to steer clear of the bathrooms. You wouldn't even be brave enough to take a glimpse.
I haven't showered yet. My teeth aren't brushed. I've been stumbling around half blind because I can't find my glasses and have been too lazy to put my contacts in. I'm covered in baby spit up (as is Austin) and baby sweat (as is Austin). And all I've eaten is a granola bar.
What can I say? Today Austin and I are just one big sweaty ball of mess.
It happens sometimes. Deep, huh?

Homemade Baby Wrap
I've been wanting a baby wrap for quite some time now, like this one by Moby.
However, I did not want to spend the $40 or $50 that they cost. So, after a little research online and a trip to Joann's, I made my own! I'll have you know it took absolutely no sewing. In fact, the only effort I really needed to make was to buy and wash the fabric. I'm still learning all the different tie possibilities, but I absolutely LOVE it. And it only cost me $15!

At the Zoo
Last week was Austin's first trip to the zoo. I don't think he saw one animal and he slept for most of the time, but the rest of us enjoyed it!

It was an overcast day for most of the day, which was actually perfect because it meant that most of the animals were out and about. Here are the sea lions.

After the zoo we all went over to Toren's parent's house for dinner and relaxing. Here, Austin and I are swinging with cousin Brody and Grandma. These little guys love swinging.

And Baxter, though he didn't go to the zoo, wore himself out completely chasing the badmitton birdies and getting in the way of some serious badmitton games.

Independence Day
Our fourth of July was pretty low-key this year, but I kind of like it that way. I love just hanging out with family, eating (of course), and watching the fireworks. This year we were blessed to have all of Toren's family (minus his brother Blair who is on a mission) in town. This meant that little Austin got to see his two cousins for the first time (pictures to come).

52-Week Project
It's been ages since I did any digital scrapbooking. And now, since I have a cute little baby to take pictures of, is the time to do it! I decided to make Austin a My First Year scrapbook. What I plan to do is create a scrapbook page for each week of his life during the first year. After that I'll probably just do a scrapbook that highlights big events. As you could probably guess, I'm a little behind on my project already. I should have at least 5 done (he's 5 weeks old today!!) and I only have 2. Oh well. As with everything else in my life, I'll catch up eventually.
